Been too long..

We have been busy, busy, busy lately and that doesn’t leave me much time to blog.  Kennedy is an on the go baby and isn’t happy unless we are going going going.  We had a great trip to the lake for Father’s Day.  Kennedy had fun hanging out with Mary, Jennifer, Russ, Matt, Cristy, and Justin.  She had fun sitting on the dock with us while she was in her swing with the fan on her.  For Father’s Day she gave Jay a mouse pad with her picture on it, a picture frame that said “Daddy’s Girl” with her picture in it, a book for Jay to read to her, and a coupon organizer.  We went to dinner with Mom and Scott and had a great dinner.  Kennedy slept through the whole thing.

Today we went to the zoo with our good friends Sarah and Jonathan and their son Lucas.  The kids really didn’t care for anything at the zoo, but it was great hanging out with old friends. I would post pictures from the zoo trip but my camera did not have the memory card in it.  oops!  We had a great dinner at Zas and even got to see Aunt Mere Mere and Uncle Kyle for a minute.

We sent off the birth announcements this week.  I am still trying to track down some addresses.  This is hard work!  I hope everyone got them today!  I couldn’t decide on one to order so I ordered two versions.  Here they are in case you got the other one:)

Kennedy is finally growing up a little.  I actually took her to Publix the other day and set her in the veggie scale to see how much she weighs.  7.5 LBS.  She is getting so big so fast.  She can almost fit into 0-3 month clothes now.  I tried her 4th of July outfit on today.  She looked great in it.  I also made her an adorable headband to wear on the 4th.  I think I need to go into the infant headband making buisness!

another great visit

I had a great visit yesterday with my grandfather (Kennedy’s great grand-father.)  We have decided that she looks like him!  He used to have beautiful red hair (or so I am told) so we are wondering if she will get that gene.  We had so much fun hanging out with him all day.  We had a great dinner at Cracker Barrell until they were cleaning up around us as our sign that it was time to go.  We loved sitting there listening to GranGran’s stories of WWII.  I really liked the story about him and his friends going to eat in the Chinese mess hall that turned out to be a Japanese dining hall.  ooops!  We took a great picture of 4 generations together.  Click here to see family pictures.

On to the developmental (sad for mom) news: Kennedy took her first bottle.  Since we are getting close to the six week mark and that means I will be able to work some at ESY, I decided I needed to see if Kennedy could take a bottle.  I pumped a few ounces off and sanitized a bottle and gave it to Jay.  He looked shocked!  Lucky for us (and sad for me) Kennedy took the bottle like a champ and didn’t even hesitate.  Click here to see pictures of her taking her first bottle.

More visitors and a great day with Baby K

Kennedy and I had a very nice day.  It started at 6:00 when she woke up and I fed her then allowed her to sleep in bed with me until I was ready to get up.  We watched TV and snuggled for a while and then I actually put her down for a real nap in her new swing.  (I know I am setting our day care lady up for failure!)  When she woke up we watched a lifetime movie then had a visit from her Great Aunt Sarah and Great Uncle Jerry.  They bought her a super soft monogrammed blanket.  She loves her new blanket.  Needless to say by the time Jay got home I needed to get out so we headed to Ballentine to visit Grandma at the library and eat Mexican. Yummy!  When we got home Jay was going to watch her while I took a nice relaxing bath with my good book.  Unfortunatly she did NOT want her daddy.  She wanted Mommie instead.  Bye bye relaxing bath.  I just can’t relax when I hear my baby girl crying.

Lately I have been critiquing baby products and consider myself an expert on them (yes after one month with one baby)

Pet Peeves:

Pacis that you can’t hook a paci clip to

sleepers that only button down one leg

car seats that don’t come with big head rests

bouncy seats with really wide legs (that I always trip over)

Dresses that ride up in the back when I hold her

Pants

Socks that come in sizes 0-9 month (hello different size feet there!)

Poops that come as soon as you put her in a fresh diaper

Pack and Plays that are too heavy for Mom to carry

Things I love:

Onesies that look like dresses

Big swings that swing in different directions

Disposible changing pads

My bad ass diaper bag from Mary

My super cute posh stroller/ carseat

My glider/ recliner

Butt paste

Huggies diapers

headbands

cute pacis (even though Kennedy really likes the ugly one)

Swaddle Sleep Sac banket

Purrell

Diaper Genie Deluxe

Video Monitor

first photo shoot

Today Jay and I packed Kennedy up and took her to the Picture People for her first photo shoot. She slept through the first outfit and nothing we could do would make her wake up. We tried everything from wiping her face to tickling her feet. She was out. By the time we put her in her second outfit she was wide awake (and not always happy). We wanted to buy every picture they had, but ended up just getting a few. She looked adorable in all of the pictures so narrowing it down was not an easy task. We took a few as a family and tons of her. (Check out the headband I made for her in the yellow pictures.) Click here to see her professional photo shoot gallery.

4 Weeks Old

Kennedy is 4 weeks old today!  Last night was NOT a great night.  Kennedy started crying at 7 and only stopped when she was nursing or cuddling in our bed.  Needless to say she spent the whole night in the swing.  Kennedy is doing some really cool things lately.  One trick she has learned is to wiggle around in the pack and play until she is on her side facing the side of the pack and play and whining.  We bought a positioner today so hopefully she won’t be able to do this trick anymore.

Kennedy is really getting where we can’t just sit her down and walk away anymore.  She really wants to be held, tickled, kissed on her cheeks, and entertained.  It makes it very difficult to get anything done around the house because she cries when I try to do anything other than give her 100% of my attention.  I will be going tomorrow to buy a swing to keep downstairs to entertain her.

One fun thing about our website is I can see what people search to come up with our website.  Usually this is boring things about pregnancy and child birth.  The past two days have been pretty funny so I thought I would share them today.

Bathtime, birthdays, and Papa Lovett

Kennedy has been very busy lately.  Yesterday after lots of shopping with Mommie, Kennedy had bathtime in her new bathtime.  I really struggle with bathtime and I am hoping it will be easier when she can support her own head.  Click here to see the latest bathtime pictures.

Today was Aunt Mere Mere’s birthday.  We were supposed to meet her and Jay downtown for a birthday lunch.  Jay was busy getting a 403 in Lexington, so Kennedy and I met Dori and Meredeth at the Gourmet Shop.  Click here to see pictures of Meredeth’s birthday.  (Kennedy wore her party outfit for Mere Mere)

Tonight, Kennedy and I met Grammy and Papa Lovett at Copper River for dinner.  Papa Lovett hadn’t seen her in a while so he liked seeing how big she is getting (although he said he is ready for her to walk and talk).  Jay was able to make it to Copper River when he was finished with Lexington.  Click here to see pictures of Kennedy with Papa Lovett and Grammy.

Overall, we have been super busy and having a blast.  Kennedy becomes more aware everyday and we are having so much fun.  She has been wearing some really cute outfits lately.  She is such a well dressed baby!  Sleeping lately hasn’t been great.  Either she sleeps like 5 hours in the swing or is up every few hours in the pack n play.  Today she rolled over in the pack n play all by herself.  She is growing up so quickly!

Kennedy goes to a Party!

Kennedy went to her first birthday party. It was Caroline’s 6th birthday party at the pool. Kennedy was sporting her adorable bathing suit and cover up and I actually was able to get her to take a cute paci! Click here for pictures.

More firsts for our gal

Kennedy, Jay, and I ran some errands last night before heading home for Jay to work. We were in Target when Kennedy started crying. It wasn’t time to eat and other than that she never cries. I took her to the bathroom and saw that she had a dirty diaper. I changed her and loved on her and she quit crying. When we were checking out I noticed that she had poo on her clothes. Jay and I decided it would be best just to get her home to change her since her diaper was clean. When we got home I immediatly stripped her down and fed her. She had crusty poo all over her back so I decided it was time for a real bath. She needed a good cleaning. I have uploaded those pictures into the baby gallery.

Another hmmm moment, I’m not sure if her belly button is healed yet or not. I thought it was, but when I really dig in it and look in it I can still see something that looks a little bit like a sea creature. I’m not sure if all baby’s have this or if she is just not willing to get rid of hers. Guess I’ll add calling Dr. D on my to do list today….

Kennedy’s first trip to Lake Greenwood

One of our favorite places in the world to go is Lake Greenwood. Jay and I have been itching to get back there for months. Finally yesterday after packing enough stuff to last a month, we headed out for Kennedy’s first trip to Lake Greenwood. She loved it (or at least mom and dad loved it.) Jay’s parents (Dori and Doc) were there. They enjoyed some great snuggle time with our precious little angel baby. It was so relaxing and we had such a nice time. Kennedy was a great little baby and only went through 7 outfits while we were there. (Haha).

Tomorrow’s first…. Kennedy goes to her first birthday party. Pictures to come…
