I cooked a meal. Your impressed right? I mean Allison does not cook and now she has cooked a meal! Here is a preview into the dinner I made tonight…
I have been researching and reading for days the difference between store bought and homemade baby foods. I have looked at what to give her first, how to cook it, how to freeze it, how to store it, when to introduce it, etc. Overall I decided that for at least right now I am going to make all her food. We have so many allergies in our family that I want to know exactly what she is eating and where it has come from. The organic baby food is really expensive so I’ll be saving a little money to go towards my new sewing machine too.
First I had to steam them. I had to google how to do this, but it wasn’t too hard:) Then I put them into my tiny food processor with a little breast milk.
Kennedy waited very patiently while I cooked.
I put a small serving in her bowl and froze the rest.
She was ready to try something new. We love firsts!
She knew the first step. Opened her mouth as soon as she saw the spoon.
The first bite had mixed reviews

But as you can tell from these pictures she thinks her Mommy’s cooking is pretty good after all…

Fabulous! When Emily was little I used ice trays to store un-used baby food that I made. Once it is frozen solid, you can pop the cubes of food out and store them in the freezer in a Zip-loc. Each cube is about an ounce, and you can pull out only the couple that you need for a feeding and store the rest in the freezer for later.
I’ve been buying baby food so far, but I’m working on finding time to make the twins’ food. Right now I have sweet potatoes in the oven.
Hopefully they will enjoy them as much as Baby K loved her food! She’s precious!
