Today we had Kennedy’s nine month well visit. I have been so excited about this visit all day. First my pediatrician doesn’t do any vacines at 9 months. Second I had a ton of questions about what Kennedy could and could not eat. Third I wanted to know her size.
Kennedy has grown so much in the past few weeks that I just knew she was huge. I knew that she would be sitting at at least 50th percentile. I just knew she had to weigh close to 20 pouds. I just knew her chart would skyrocket!
weight: 17.3 lbs 15th percentile
length: 26.5 inches 10th percentile
Head: 17.25 inches 36th percentile
Darn…. I was wrong. She is still a peanut. She is tiny. She didn’t grow that much.
The good news is they gave her a peanut test! I was talking to Dr. D’s nurse about the different foods Kennedy has been eating and how much she is nursing. They warned me no shell fish until age 1, no eggs until age 1, and no peanuts until 2. I asked again about getting her tested for peanuts and the nurse said she would talk to Dr. D. for me. When Dr. D came into the office he not only agreed that we needed to test Kennedy he agreed that we didn’t need to let another day go by without testing her. He said he could vividly remember when Jay was a 4 year old and ate a peanut. He remembered that Jay almost died! Thank goodness for having a pediatrician who knows your true family history!
The other hot topic was sippy cups, talking, and crawling. Today at the appointment Kennedy learned to point. Out of the blue she was pointing to everything she wanted to see and hold. What a great time to learn and show off her knew skill! As for crawling, Dr. D is not too concerned. He is hoping that we will see pulling up and cruising soon since she is such a good walker with support. He told us pretty much that she crawling may not be in Kennedy’s future. He also warned us that her current fish out of water scoot may cause blisters to form on her toes. I must admit her toes do look pretty sore! As for sippy cups we are supposed to just continue to try to offer her water in them. Dr. D is not concerned that she isn’t taking them since she is a boob kind of girl.
Overall the appointment went well. I am so thankful for a good doctor and such a wonderful staff. Now we wait. Within 5-7 days we will know about the peanuts! I’m so nervous!

Glad her appt went so well!! Her 9 month stats are a lot like Juliana’s stats. Juliana is still a peanut! Speaking of peanuts- hope all goes well with Kennedy’s test- hoping for a big fat NEGATIVE!
