Busy Busy Busy

What has K-Bug been up to?

1. Rolling… everywhere that she wants to go she rolls to. She rolls around the den, her crib, the bed… everywhere. Why crawl when rolling gets you there just the same?

2. Learning about cause and affect: bang a pot it makes a fun noise, throw something down people pick it up, do something cute people saw “awww”, pull the poodles ears he growls.

3. Christmas: She loves ripping the paper off the gifts

4. Cranial DOC band: we took digital pictures for it this week she will be getting it on the 6th

5. Eating: everything, but she only if her Mommy makes it. I tried Gerber prunes (she hated them), I tried apple juice (she hated it), but the good news is she LOVES carrots, sweet potatos, broccoli, green beans, banana, apple sauce, squash, pea, you name it. If her Mommy cooks it, she loves it. The other good news. She shows no signs of wanting to wean herself. She still loves to nurse and has not slowed down the number of ounces she drinks each day.

6. She loves each and every gift she has been given thus far the Christmas. Some of her favorites are her stacking rings, stacking cups, and car seat

7. Santa Claus is Scary!

8. I have learned to make bow holders. I cut them out of wood with the help of Scott and painted them. I have taken pictures of ones I made for Kennedy, Hayes, Madison, and Ava

Here is an assortment of pictures from our journeys… (Tampa game, around the house, Oak Pointe Christmas Party for the kids, bow holders, Babb Christmas, Christmas lights at the zoo, Prunes, Christmas toys, Doc band pictures, and Christmas cards)

I cooked

carrotsfirstmeal 001I cooked a meal. Your impressed right? I mean Allison does not cook and now she has cooked a meal! Here is a preview into the dinner I made tonight… carrotsfirstmeal 022

I have been researching and reading for days the difference between store bought and homemade baby foods. I have looked at what to give her first, how to cook it, how to freeze it, how to store it, when to introduce it, etc. Overall I decided that for at least right now I am going to make all her food. We have so many allergies in our family that I want to know exactly what she is eating and where it has come from. The organic baby food is really expensive so I’ll be saving a little money to go towards my new sewing machine too.

First I had to steam them. I had to google how to do this, but it wasn’t too hard:) Then I put them into my tiny food processor with a little breast milk.carrotsfirstmeal 002

Kennedy waited very patiently while I cooked. carrotsfirstmeal 003

I put a small serving in her bowl and froze the rest. carrotsfirstmeal 004

She was ready to try something new. We love firsts! carrotsfirstmeal 005

She knew the first step. Opened her mouth as soon as she saw the spoon. carrotsfirstmeal 006

The first bite had mixed reviews

But as you can tell from these pictures she thinks her Mommy’s cooking is pretty good after all…

5 Months is GREAT!

This is by far my FAVORITE age! I thought she was growing up so fast and I would miss my little baby. No way! This little 5 month old talks, squirms, grabs stuff, laughs at things, loves her toys and stuffed animals, knows when she is dressed silly, and sleeping a little longer at night! She loves her mommy and daddy and loves when they play with her. She beams when she hears her daddy’s voice. She notices other children and like to smile at them. She is a ham and LOVES to get people attention w=in stores. She is just great! She isn’t too mobil yet so we aren’t having to childproof stuff, but this girl can move. She can slither, wiggle, roll, and squirm to get where she wants to be. Here are some new pictures of our little cutie! These pictures go from the most recent to last week. The first one is of us at Beef O Brady’s after Clemson’s big win yesterday. Then you will see pictures from Gymboree, Jay buiding our new stroller, and the pumpkin patch!

Bathtime, birthdays, and Papa Lovett

Kennedy has been very busy lately.  Yesterday after lots of shopping with Mommie, Kennedy had bathtime in her new bathtime.  I really struggle with bathtime and I am hoping it will be easier when she can support her own head.  Click here to see the latest bathtime pictures.

Today was Aunt Mere Mere’s birthday.  We were supposed to meet her and Jay downtown for a birthday lunch.  Jay was busy getting a 403 in Lexington, so Kennedy and I met Dori and Meredeth at the Gourmet Shop.  Click here to see pictures of Meredeth’s birthday.  (Kennedy wore her party outfit for Mere Mere)

Tonight, Kennedy and I met Grammy and Papa Lovett at Copper River for dinner.  Papa Lovett hadn’t seen her in a while so he liked seeing how big she is getting (although he said he is ready for her to walk and talk).  Jay was able to make it to Copper River when he was finished with Lexington.  Click here to see pictures of Kennedy with Papa Lovett and Grammy.

Overall, we have been super busy and having a blast.  Kennedy becomes more aware everyday and we are having so much fun.  She has been wearing some really cute outfits lately.  She is such a well dressed baby!  Sleeping lately hasn’t been great.  Either she sleeps like 5 hours in the swing or is up every few hours in the pack n play.  Today she rolled over in the pack n play all by herself.  She is growing up so quickly!

More firsts for our gal

Kennedy, Jay, and I ran some errands last night before heading home for Jay to work. We were in Target when Kennedy started crying. It wasn’t time to eat and other than that she never cries. I took her to the bathroom and saw that she had a dirty diaper. I changed her and loved on her and she quit crying. When we were checking out I noticed that she had poo on her clothes. Jay and I decided it would be best just to get her home to change her since her diaper was clean. When we got home I immediatly stripped her down and fed her. She had crusty poo all over her back so I decided it was time for a real bath. She needed a good cleaning. I have uploaded those pictures into the baby gallery.

Another hmmm moment, I’m not sure if her belly button is healed yet or not. I thought it was, but when I really dig in it and look in it I can still see something that looks a little bit like a sea creature. I’m not sure if all baby’s have this or if she is just not willing to get rid of hers. Guess I’ll add calling Dr. D on my to do list today….
